Neck & Shoulder Pain

A stiff neck and heavy, aching shoulders can turn even simple movements into a chore. Our hands-on care plan releases knotted muscles, restores joint mobility, and helps you turn, reach, and rest without wincing.

Understanding neck and shoulder pain

Your neck carries the weight of your head all day, and your shoulders absorb the strain of everything you lift, carry, and type. When muscles are held in one position for hours — hunched over a laptop, cradling a phone, sleeping awkwardly — they respond by tightening into knots. Those knots squeeze nearby nerves and blood vessels, which is why a stiff neck so often brings headaches, arm heaviness, and restless nights along with it.

Left alone, the body starts guarding the sore area, moving less and stiffening more. Breaking that cycle is the heart of recovery.

How our therapies help

Your care plan combines three approaches that work well together. Trigger Point Therapy locates the specific knots that are generating pain — often in the upper trapezius and along the shoulder blade — and applies sustained, precise pressure until they soften and release. Neuro-Muscular Therapy then works on the deeper conversation between your nerves and muscles, calming the overactive signals that keep muscles clenched even at rest.

Finally, Manual Mobilization & Joint Manipulation gently restores movement to the small joints of the neck and shoulder girdle, so your new muscle freedom translates into a genuinely wider, easier range of motion. Sessions build on each other: early visits focus on releasing pain, later ones on keeping it from returning. Most people leave each session feeling lighter through the shoulders — and by the end of the course, turning to check a blind spot no longer requires turning the whole body.

Questions we are asked

How many sessions before I feel relief?+

Many people feel noticeably looser after the first two or three sessions. A typical course runs 6–10 sessions, depending on how long the tension has been building and how your body responds.

Does the treatment hurt?+

Trigger point work can bring a brief, satisfying ache as a knot releases, but nothing beyond your comfort level. Your therapist checks in throughout and adjusts the pressure to suit you.

When should I see a doctor instead?+

If your pain follows an accident or fall, comes with numbness or weakness spreading down an arm, or is accompanied by fever or severe headache, please see a physician first. Our therapies complement medical care; they don't replace it.
