Pressure & Point Therapy

Auriculotherapy

Auriculotherapy stimulates precise points on the outer ear — a natural map of the whole body — to ease pain, calm stress, and rebalance energy, all through one small, easily reached area.

How it helps

  • Relieves pain in areas far from the ear itself, including back, joints, and head
  • Calms stress and anxiety quickly through nervous-system pathways
  • Supports better sleep and relaxation
  • Can help manage cravings and support weight management
  • Ear seeds allow the effect to continue between sessions
  • Comfortable, needle-free, and requires no undressing

What is Auriculotherapy?

Auriculotherapy is a form of point therapy focused entirely on the outer ear. In this practice, the ear is treated as a detailed map of the whole body — often pictured as an inverted figure, with points corresponding to the head, spine, organs, and limbs. By stimulating the right points with precise, needle-free pressure, the therapist can influence the matching part of the body, easing pain and restoring energy balance.

Because everything happens at the ear, it is one of the most convenient therapies we offer: no undressing, no needles, and effects that can be felt well beyond the ear itself.

How it works

The outer ear is one of the most nerve-rich surfaces of the body, with branches connecting directly to the brain and nervous system. When a part of the body is out of balance, its corresponding ear point often becomes tender or sensitive — which is why the therapist begins by carefully examining the ear.

Stimulating these points sends signals through the nervous system that help calm pain pathways, relax tension, and support the body's own regulating processes. In the KiLiK approach, this rebalancing supports stress reduction, pain relief, better sleep, and mental clarity. Some points, such as the well-known Shen Men point, are used specifically for their deeply calming effect.

What a session feels like

You sit or lie comfortably while the therapist works on one or both ears with fingertips or a small rounded probe. Active points may feel briefly tender — a useful signal, not a problem — and the sensation typically softens as the point releases. Many people feel a wave of warmth or drowsy relaxation during the session. If ear seeds are placed, you leave with a simple way to continue the therapy yourself: a gentle press a few times a day keeps the points working between visits.

What a session looks like

  1. 1

    Mapping the ear

The therapist examines your outer ear, where every part of the body has a corresponding point — tender or sensitive spots often reveal exactly where the body needs support.

  2. 2

    Selecting your points

Based on your condition, a small set of points is chosen — for example, points linked to the lower back for back pain, or calming points such as Shen Men for stress and sleep.

  3. 3

    Stimulating each point

Points are stimulated with firm fingertip pressure or a small rounded probe, held steadily until the sensitivity softens. The pressure is precise but comfortable.

  4. 4

    Ear seeds for home care

Tiny seeds or pellets on adhesive patches may be placed on key points so you can press them gently through the day, extending the benefit between sessions.

Auriculotherapy — common questions

How can pressing my ear affect my back or my sleep?+

The outer ear is richly supplied with nerves that connect to the brain and, through it, to the rest of the body. Stimulating a mapped point sends calming, regulating signals along these pathways, which can ease pain and tension in the corresponding area.

Does auriculotherapy hurt?+

No. Points that need attention can feel tender when first pressed, but the pressure used is steady and controlled, and the tenderness usually fades as the point is worked. Most people find sessions relaxing.

What are ear seeds and how long do they stay on?+

Ear seeds are tiny natural seeds or metal pellets fixed to the ear with small adhesive patches. You press them gently a few times a day for ongoing stimulation, and they typically stay on for three to five days.
