What is Solar Colour Therapy?
Solar Colour Therapy joins two of nature's oldest remedies: sunlight and colour. Sunlight has been used therapeutically for thousands of years — it powers vitamin D production, lifts mood, and sets the internal clock that governs sleep and energy. Colour therapy (chromotherapy) adds precision to that foundation, using the distinct qualities of different colours to calm, energise, or rebalance. In a KiLiK session the two are combined: gentle, safely timed sun exposure with colour applied through filtered light, coloured materials, or sun-charged water.
How it works
Light is not one thing — each colour is a different wavelength, and the body responds to them differently. Cool blues and greens tend to quiet the nervous system, easing stress and preparing the body for rest. Warm reds, oranges, and yellows are stimulating, useful when energy, digestion, or motivation are low. Meanwhile, plain gentle sunlight on the skin supports vitamin D, circulation, and immunity, and morning light in the eyes (always indirect) helps reset a disturbed sleep rhythm. The therapist selects the combination that fits your state, so each session is tuned to you.
What a session feels like
A session is one of the most restful experiences we offer. You simply recline in soft natural light — early morning or late afternoon, never harsh sun — surrounded by or bathed in your chosen colours, often with slow breathing to deepen the effect. Most people feel warmth, ease, and a gentle lift in mood immediately. Over a course of sessions, the aim is steadier sleep, brighter energy, and a calmer, more resilient nervous system.
What a session looks like
- 1
Choosing your colours
The therapist discusses how you are sleeping, feeling, and functioning, then selects the colours suited to your needs — cool blues and greens to calm, warm reds, oranges, and yellows to energise.
- 2
Gentle sun exposure
Sessions use the mild morning or late-afternoon sun. You rest comfortably while safe, measured sunlight reaches the skin and eyes (never by looking at the sun directly), supporting vitamin D and the body's natural rhythms.
- 3
Applying colour
Colour is introduced through filtered light, coloured silks or glass, sun-charged water, or a colour-focused environment, directed either to the whole body or to specific areas.
- 4
Quiet absorption
The session closes with still, restful minutes in the chosen light and colour, often with slow breathing, letting the nervous system settle into the new balance.
Solar Colour Therapy — common questions
How can colours affect how I feel?+−
Different wavelengths of light have measurably different effects on the nervous system: cool colours like blue and green tend to slow the breath and calm the mind, while warm colours like red and orange are stimulating. The therapy uses these qualities deliberately, matching colours to what your body needs.
Why involve sunlight rather than just coloured lamps?+−
Natural sunlight carries the full spectrum of colour and also does things lamps cannot: it triggers vitamin D production in the skin and anchors the body clock that governs sleep and energy. Gentle sun is the foundation; colour work refines and directs it.
Will I get sunburnt or tanned?+−
No. Sessions use only short, mild exposure at the gentlest times of day, well within safe limits. The aim is nourishment, not intensity — you should finish a session feeling refreshed, never overheated.
